About Us
SMALL BEGINNINGS
Dr. Raymond D. Stamper literally hung out his shingle in 1971. After purchasing a small residential house with enough room to do veterinary work and house the family, he began seeing clients in the front of the house while the kids raised havoc in the back! As the years went by, the community grew and Dr. Stamper gained a reputation for being a highly skilled and likable veterinarian. The hospital gained customers quickly and Dr. Stamper began to add staff. Finally, by 1978, there was not enough room in the little gray house to service all the pets who needed care.
NEW BUILDING
The current building was built in 1978 and is fully equipped and designed to handle all aspects of veterinary care. The 1980’s became a decade of tremendous growth and saw the addition of the first associate veterinarian to the practice as well as the addition of a full staff of receptionists, technicians and managerial help. By the late 1990’s Highland Heights Animal Hospital had grown to a three doctor practice with a customer base of over 10,000 pet owners.
TRAGIC LOSS
The most difficult event in the practice’s history was the sudden and unexpected death of the founder; Dr. Raymond Stamper on April 2nd 2001. Dr. Stamper’s strength and determination were the building block of Highland Heights Animal Hospital and can never be replaced. Nonetheless, customers remained loyal to the hospital and the practice maneuvered through a difficult period and emerged healthy and strong.
NEW BEGINNINGS
In May of 2002, Dr. Stamper's youngest son Aaron graduated from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine and stepped into the role vacated by Dr. Stamper senior. With the coming of Dr. Stamper II and the rest of the associate veterinary staff, Highland Heights Animal Hospital is providing consistent, quality, caring veterinary care to community pets at a level as high as at any time in its existence. As of the time of this writing, the practice now employs 5 veterinarians, two managers, and 10 other auxiliary staff members with a customer base of nearly 17,000 pet owners. We look forward to caring for Northern Kentucky pets for years to come and invite everyone to come visit us and allow us to show you the same care and expertise that your neighbors have come to depend on.
PET GROOMING ADDED TO SERVICE LINE
our Highland Heights Pet Wow grooming salon opened in January of 2005. We began small with just one groomer, a bath tub, a small dryer and a flip-up grooming table. Our first commitment was to offer the highest quality pet grooming possible. Our second goal was to ALWAYS make sure that our customers could get their pets in for grooming in a timely manner. We were told that one of the biggest complaints pet owners had was that they were often forced to book their pet’s grooming appointment weeks, or even months, in advance due to the limited capacity of local grooming shops. Accordingly, we rapidly and progressively added groomers, grooming assistants and equipment to insure that our customers could always get their pets in for an appointment within days. A little over 3-1/2 years later we have 5 groomers, 2 grooming assistants, 2 lobby greeters, 5 grooming stations, a 3 station bathing system, and the ability to dry up to 35 pets at one time. Most importantly, we still get rave reviews from our customers regarding the quality of our work and the friendliness of our staff. In addition, our customers can STILL GET AN APPOINTMENT WITHIN 1-3 DAYS ANY TIME OF YEAR!!!
PET WOW CARE CENTER
In an exciting 2008 development, Highland Heights Animal Hospital AND Pet Grooming became a PET WOW Care Center. Our Care Center serves as a surgical base for Pet Wow's HOME VETERINARY CARE which brings at-home veterinary care to the homes of Greater Cincinnati - Northern Kentucky pet owners.
